Happy 20th Birthday to the Kidzfield @ Glastonbury festival!

Its been a great start to Summer for Zaz, now “back at work” after a little time off for the arrival of baby No2 Oliver George as he was born on St Georges day. So we dusted off & unpacked the Pazaz bigtop tent & all its equipment & hit the road. We have already visited many schools for both Saturday Fetes & fairs & during the school week teaching the children a fun & exiting circus show which they then perform after school in the bigtop for their teachers, family & friends. We spent a full week at Furley Park academy in Ashford to include almost every pupil in the school from years 1-5. The school made us very welcome during our stay & really utilised the shows to full fundraising capacity with a BBQ & showtime refreshments. We also pitched the bigtop next to the Chichester festival Theatre for Taste Artisan food festival We had a yummy time indeed & hope everybody enjoyed our shows! Next up is a special Birthday party! its 20 years since the Kidzfield within the Glasonbury festival was started. The field is probably the only place on site where parents can actually rest their eyes & relax with other parents whilst the kidz are captivated by the colour & magic of the kidzfield & the people that make it happen. Zaz is happy to be back performing in the bigtop again with the best in kidz entertainment! Click here to see the Amazing line up of things for Kidz & parents to do in the field.  Heres a short film of the Famous Kidzfield red Bus making its journey to Somerset.  After Glastonbury we reload & head to the next school Oakmere Primary School in Potters Bar then St Marys Primary School in  Worcestershire we are very exited about this as the school are using the village green to hold their summer fete & the BBC News are coming to film a short film on Zaz & Circus PaZaz! more on that soon! See you at Glastonbury!                              if not enjoy watching it on the telly ;0)

Glastonbury kidzfield 2013

Were back home & all washed up after another great Glastonbury festival. Zaz was invited back to perform for the 3rd year! Now Europe’s largest FREE children’s festival the Kidzfield is bursting with colour, bigtop tents, peace & love, & just about everything a child could dream of. This year we felt even more at home as our own newborn baby Zac could enjoy all the fun along with the thousands of other children… Each morning we would go to the big top as baby Zac is an early riser. African musician Seikou Susso plaid traditional West African Kora music for all the field to wake up to. Zac happily watched us both as I practised my hat juggling to his beautiful music. So much hard work goes into the Kidzfield by a fantastic team of hundreds of good people from all over the UK. Everyone has a part to play from the Baby help tent to the sand in the sand pits, Set at the the top of the field is the giant helter skelter which can be seen from far. In the performance tent as usual were a mix of cool kidz performers including the CBBC presenters. Each night fun guy Alex Winters read bed time storys & on the Sunday night everyone danced as the tent closed with a massive family kidz disco! Zaz’s shows were fun in the huge bigtop, a fantastic line up of hand picked kidz performers, puppeteers, story tellers and musicians. Well done to all that made the kidzfield 2013 happen it is vital that such a big festival has a space for children and here the parents are at ease. We saw the Rolling stones but Izaac’s highlight must have been the many flags seen through babys eyes…..

On the road again….

Hi everyone, just catching up with Zaz’s blog before we set off for Glastonbury festival. So far this summer we have visited quite a few primary schools with more to come. Last week we visited Giffards in Essex, a sentimantal gig as this is the school where Fred & Chi chi performed as freds flying circus for the last time & our 3rd visit. This school are especially nice & always thrilled that we take the time to visit them. We like to arrive after school & build up the tent with the help of the pta ready for all to see in the playground next morning. The school bell rings, soon after the first year3 class are sat on the grass sketching the tent whilst taking registration. Each year Giffards primary year 3 choose circus as a project. After playtime the class and teacher join us in the circus ring for the rest of the school day.  Together the class learn their own show to perform at showtime after school. These workshops are a inspiring & interesting tool help to increase play, concentration, team work & self esteem levels not forgetting fantastic happy memories for all the family. Both classes of children did a fantastic job together we hope there parents are proud of them and everyone enjoined the 2 fantastic after school community events. Here are a few snaps to see….

If your at Glastonbury with your children come say hi you won’t want to leave the Kidzfield! click here for lots more info bye for now, Zaz

Summer is finally here!

At last summer is here! Zaz & friends are all busy making the fun happen!            Circus PaZaz whilst entertaining is helping PTA’s to raise funds at many school fetes this year. We perform & teach children’s shows in our circus tent for all the families entertainment. We are also happy to be part of some great family events & festivals again this summer. Locally the Kemptown carnival was a great start to the sunshine season, Zaz did well to keep Oswald the Ostrich under control in the massive carnival crowds as he’s a lively bird!

Baby Izaac’s Circus Christening day

DSC_5989In addition to zaz’s usual half term & kids party fun We’ve had a busy Feb/April getting final visits & arrangements in place for the summer season.                       My new project Circus Pazaz with the help of Fred from Fred’s flying circus is taking shape. One big job that was needed before opening was to wash the tent. By circus standards our tent is a baby to,  but still, washing a 50ft tent is an operation. With that in mind I had arranged a spot in the farmers field to do this. We had a water tap in the field, all that was needed was sunshine, help from friends & lots of sponges. Most of our friends have kids, but due to work commitments they don’t see ‘Zaz’ that often sadly…..Drying the tent meant putting it up completely.  We thought that it would be a perfect chance to celebrate the birth our first baby, Izaac & let our friends children & family enjoy a day at our new little circus. The farmer liked the idea & offered us a fantastic field set in the beautiful Sussex South Downs & we invited clown vicar Rev Roly Bain to perform, christen Izaac & bless our new tent in a circus way but still by the Church of England. Saturday the 20th April was confirmed & it truly was a day we will always remember. We invited friends & family for a midday service in the tent followed by BBQ games, family disco, ending the day with showtime! Some performer friends came as guests but also generously performed too. The weather was perfect, baby Izaac was so good & seems very at home under the canvas. When he is older we will show him the photos & tell him about his circus christening on world circus day. Photos thanks to Steve Jacks & Rob Shone
